Baxter, Robert George Leslie

Biography: Son of the late Dr. Alexander Baxter and Flora Baxter, Oldmeldrum; born Oldmeldrum, 1916 ; educated at Aberdeen Grammar School. In 1933 he began his medical course at the University, but in 1937 joined the Royal Air Force. On the outbreak of war he acted as an instructor with Training Command. In 1942 he was posted to Bomber Command and rapidly gained promotion to the rank of Wing Commander. He was killed during flying operations in July 1943, and is buried in the R.A.F. Cemetery at Grangemouth.
