Biography: Son of John MacKenzie; born Aberdeen, 9 January 1892. Arts, 1911-14. Enlisted, Grammar School F.P. [Former Pupil] Company, Gordon Highlanders, 1909; 2nd Lieutenant, 10th Service Battalion, Gordon Highlanders, October 1914. Served-France, June 1915-May 1916; Home, (53rd Young Soldiers Battalion) Gordon Highlanders, 1916-19. Final rank, Captain.
