Asher, John Reid

Biography: Son of Robert Asher and Janet Jane Asher (nee Reid), of Market Street, Macduff; born King-Edward, Aberdeenshire, 1913 ; educated at Aberlour Secondary School and Banff Academy. He graduated M.A. in 1935 and in 1938 took his LL.B. at Edinburgh, serving his apprenticeship in Law with Baillie and Gifford, W.S. On the outbreak of war he joined the Royal Artillery. Just before the fall of Singapore he was killed in action in Malaya in February 1942.
