Biography: Son of Robert MacKay; born Hull, 13 September 1878. Science 1910-11. Cadet, Artists' Rifles, Officers Training Corps, 3 September 1915. Served with 5th Cyclists' Battery E.Y.R.; 1/1st King's African Rifles; commissioned, 29 July 1916. Home, 1915-17, 1919; Nyasaland, Portuguese East Africa, German East Africa, April 1917-June 1919. Final rank, Lieutenant.
