Biography: Son of John Stewart; born Strichen, 19 January 1882. M.A. (I CIass), 1903; Black Latin, Liddel, Prizes; Fullerton Scholar. Commissioned, 2nd Q.V.O. Sappers and Miners, 9 May 1915. Served-India, 1915-16; Mesopotamia, October 1916-January 1918; Afghanistan, June-October 1919. Final rank, Captain. Military Cross, June 1917.
