Biography: Son of James A. Stephen; born Keith, 15 April 1879. Law, 1899-1900. Officer Training Corps, Blairlodge School; Queen's Edinburgh Volunteers, 1890. Commissioned, 6th Gordon Highlanders (V. later T.), 1907. Mobilized, August 1914. Transferred Machine Gun Corps Served-Home, 1914, 1915-19; France, November 1914-October 1915. Final rank, Major. Order of the British Empire (Military Division).
