Jolly, Robert

Biography: Son of Robert Jolly, Custom House Officer ; born Dundee, 18 May 1897. Student in Medicine, 1919. He enlisted in the 4th Battalion Gordon Highlanders, 11 November 1914. After training Jolly crossed to France in July 1915 where he served till he was gassed in December 1917. His subsequent service was in home camps in Scotland and England, and he gained commissioned rank, 4 February 1919. Jolly's death was an aftermath of the war. He came up to the University to study Medicine in April 1919, but the effects of the illness contracted at the Front still dogged his steps, and he died 26 November 1919.
