Biography: Son of John Simpson; born Elgin, 24 November 1881. M.A., 1904; B.Sc. (Spec, dist), 1906; D.Sc., 1911. Lieutenant, West African Frontier Force, July 1917. Served-Gold Coast, September 1917-February 1919. Final rank, Lieutenant.
