Biography: Son of William Winton; born Forgue, 18 August 1894. M.A., 1919. Private, 6th Gordon Highlanders, 1912; 4th Gordon Highlanders. Mobilized, August 1914. Commissioned, April 1917. Served-Home, 1914, 1916-18; France, November 1914-October 1916. India, Indian Army Reserve Officers; attached to 2/129th D.C.O. Baluchis, March 1918-August 1919. Final rank, Acting Captain.
