Biography: Son of George Lyall; born Buckie, 20 September 1882. M.A. (Ill Eng.), 1905. Enlisted, 6th Kings Own Scottish Borderers, 8 December 1914 ; transferred to D Special Company, Royal Engineers. Served-Home, 1914-15 ; France, May 1915-December 1918. Final rank, Company Sergeant-Major.
