Biography: Son of James Ledingham; born Boyndie, Banffshire, 19 May 1875. M.A. (I Math.), 1895 ; B.Sc. (Special distinction), 1900; M.B. (Honours), 1902; D.Sc., 1910; F.R.S., 1921. Simpson, Arnott, Prizes; Fife Jamieson Medal; Struthers Medal and Prize; Anderson Scholar; Carnegie Research Fellow. War work-Bacteriologist, King George's Hospital, May-December 1915. Commissioned, Lieutenant-Colonel, Royal Army Medical Corps, 8 December 1915. Member, Medical Advisory Committee, (Mediterranean), 1915-17 ; Consulting Bacteriologist, Mesopotamia Expeditionary Force, 1917-19. Final rank, Lieutenant-Colonel. C.M.G., 1918.
