Biography: Son of Robert Laird; born Penang, 28 October 1895. Arts, 1913-14. Private, 2nd London Scottish, 3 September 1914 ; commissioned, 3rd Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, 25 September 1915 ; attached to 1st London Scottish, 10th, 4th, Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders. Served-Home, 1914-15, 1915-16, 1918 ; France, April-July 1915, July 1916-September 1917, August-October 1918; Germany, February-August 1919. Final rank, Acting Captain.
