Biography: Son of William Porter; born Woodside, Aberdeen, 9 June 1885. M.B., 1908; D.P.H., 1909. U Company, Scottish Horse, 1903-05. Commissioned, Royal Army Medical Corps (Territorial Force), 1st London Sanitary Company, 23 December 1915. Served-Home, 1915-16; France, Belgium, Germany, February 1916-September 1919. Final rank, Captain.
