Biography: Son of John Philip; born Aberdeen, 20 March 1888. M.B., 1912; Thomson Bursar; Duthie Scholar. Private, 7th Volunteer Battalion Gordon Highlanders, 1905-09; commissioned, Royal Army Medical Corps, 12 February 1918; attached 1/2nd Highland Field Ambulance; 1/6th Black Watch. Served-France, March-October 1918; Home (Specialist, Cerebro-Spinal Fever), 1918-19. Final rank, Captain. Military Cross, October 1918.
