Biography: Son of Joseph Russell; born Great Grimsby, 31 March 1883. M.A., 1908. Medically rejected for service abroad. War work-Special Constable, St. Anne's-on-Sea, 1914-15. Honorary Chaplain to H.M. Forces, attached to 15th County of London Regiment, 1916. Home service.
