Morgan, builder ; born Huntly, 26 May 1881 ; educated Gordon Schools, Huntly ; student in Law, 1901-03, 190708 ; admitted a Law Agent in 1906 ; later prizeman in Shipping Law. From then onwards his work in the Sheriff Court foreshadowed a career rich in promise. The war was but a few months old when he enlisted in the 2/4th Gordons, December 1914, and became C.Q.M.S. before joining the 114th Gordons in France in the autumn of 1915. There he did very effective work in the trying time that followed. Returning home for a commission, he was gazetted in December 1916. Spring saw him back with his Battalion in France ; he was wounded and invalided home for a short time, then he rejoined the Battalion in January, to fall fighting bravely with his Company on the fateful 22 March 1918. His men loved him ; his brother officers will never forget him ; staunch and steadfast, he compelled their love.
