Biography: Son of William Rae; born Aberdeen, 15 January 1883. M.A., 1903; B.L. (dist.), 1906. Enlisted 1st Volunteer Battalion Gordon Highlanders, 1900; commissioned, 1903; resigned, 1910. Appointed Captain, 72nd Regiment Seaforth Highlanders of Canada. Mobilized, 10 August 1914. Attached 16th, 3rd, 4th, Canadian Infantry Battalions, General Staff Canadian Corps, etc. Served-Canada, 1914-15; France, February-June 1915; France, Belgium, Germany, December 1915-April 1919. Final rank, Lieutenant-Colonel. Distinguished Service Order, January, 1916. Croix de Guerre (French), August 1918. Four mentions in despatches, 1916, 1918, January, July, 1919.
