Biography: Son of James Thow ; born Drumlithie, 24 February 1893. M.A., 1920; B.Sc., 1921. Private, U Company, 4th Gordon Highlanders, January 1914. Mobilized, August 1914; transferred 186th Special Company Royal Engineers. Served with H.Q., Special Company's Royal Engineers First Army. Home, 1914-15; France, February 1915-February 1919. Final rank, R.Q.M. Sergeant.
