Biography: Son of Charles L. Thom; born Aberdeen, 6 July 1898. M.A., 1917. Enlisted, 53rd Brigade, Royal Field Artillery, 6 August 1916. Commissioned, 1st Welsh H.B., Royal Garrison Artillery, 9 April 1918. Served-Home, 1918; France, August 1918-January 1919. Final rank, 2nd Lieutenant.
