Kennedy, Edwin Alfred

Regiment: 6th Battalion Seaforth Highlanders

Biography: Son of Robert Kennedy, river superintendent; born at Banff, 20 November 1895 ; he was educated at Banff Academy where he made an excellent record, being Dux of the school in his final year ; matriculated in Arts at Aberdeen University in October 1914. He enlisted in the 4th Gordon Highlanders in March 1915, and received a commission in the 6th Seaforth Highlanders in July of the same year. After training at Aberdeen, Elgin and Ripon, Kennedy proceeded to France in January 1916, and went through some of the hardest fighting of the war. Except for a short interval when he was invalided home, he remained on active service until he was killed in action near Arras on 5 May 1917. Both he and his brother, Captain John Kennedy, proved themselves gallant soldiers, fulfilling the promise of their school and College life.
