Biography: Son of James Hay; born Fordyce, 27 November 1898. M.A., 1920. A.U.O.T.C. Private, 4th Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, 2 April 1917 ; commissioned, 1/4th Seaforth Highlanders, 31 July 1918. Served-Home, 17 months; France, 8 months. Final rank, 2nd Lieutenant.
