Biography: Son of John Greig; born Alvah, Banffshire. M.A. (II Math.), 1901; B.L. (dist,}, 1903; Edmond Prize. Private, Uganda Voluntary Reserves, 6 August 1914; commissioned, E. African Transport Corps (Congo Carrier Section), March 1916. Transferred to Political Service (Civil Administration). Served-Uganda, 1914-16; German E. Africa 1916-19. Final rank, Lieutenant. M.B.E. (civil), June 1919. Mentioned in despatches, 1917.
