Biography: Son of John Gillies; born Lochalsh, Ross-shire, 10 April 1866. M.A. (I Classics), 1891; M.B. (Hons.), 1895. Lieutenant, R.A.M.C., 16 May 1915. Served in His Majesty's Hospital Ship ""Pananama"" sailing between Southampton, Malta, Mudros, Suvla Bay, August-November 1915; Malta, November 1915-April 1916. Final rank, Lieutenant.
