Biography: Son of Robert Gibson; born Row, Helensburgh, 2 November 1860. M.A., 1880. Liverpool University Officer Training Corps; Captain, Cheshire Royal Engineers (V.) and Army Service Corps (T.F.), 1899-1911. Lieutenant-Colonel, King's Liverpool Regiment (Paymaster, West Lancs. T.F. Association), 4 August 1914-1919. Final rank, Lieutenant-Colonel. O.B.E., January 1919. Mentioned in despatches, July 1919. War work-Voluntary Aid Detachment, Red Cross Society and S.F. Association, Prisoners of War Committee.
