Biography: Son of James Cruden ; born Tyrie, 2 June 1850. M.A., 1873. Served 37 years with 1st Volunteer Battalion Gordon Highlanders. Private, Royal Army Veterinary Corps, August 1915; commissioned, December 1916. Served with 25th Durham Light Infantry, Labour Corps. Home, 1915-17, 1918-19; France, July 1917-April 1918. Final rank, Captain. V.D.
