Biography
Scottish advocate and antiquary. Born in London. Attended classes at Edinburgh Univ., 1810-6. Called to the bar 1817. Died Edinburgh. An extensive collector, the sale of his library (over 5000 volumes) in May 1880 took 15 days. His publications of Scottish historical, literary, genealogical and antiquarian material were very numerous.
