Biography
Ecclesiastical historian. Born Old Aberdeen, 1812. Entered King's Coll., c.1825. Apprenticed in the law office of Alexander Allan, qualified 1836. Co-founder of the Spalding Club 1839. Librarian to the Aberdeen Society of Advocates 1841. Lecturer for Scottish law, Marischal Coll., 1843. Graduated M.A. from Aberdeen 1856. Published An ecclesiastical history of Scotland from the introduction of Christianity to the present time, 1861. L.L.D Aberdeen, 1864. Professor of law in the United University 1881-91. Died Aberdeen 1892.
