Biography

Born Norwich 1560. Tutored at the house of Duke of Norfolk, entered Merchant Taylors' 1572, entered Magdalen Coll., Oxford 1574. Elected a demy (form of scholarship at Magdalen). Left suddenly for France without leave of absence 1577. Persuaded to return, re-entered college without disciplinary measures. Probationer fellow 1579. Expelled from his fellowship 1581, due to internal politics of college. Restored to his fellowship by royal command, due to his father's lobbying. Left England 1583, studying and travelling in Germany, Italy, Switzerland and France til 1586. Died 1630.
