Mentioned as rector of Kincardine O'Neill and canon of Aberdeen 1511-29. Cousin and tutor of Alexander, 2nd Lord Elphinstone, c.1518-26. Treasurer of the diocese of Aberdeen, 1521. Canon of Kincardine 1526. Same as the Robert Elphinstone, senior, incorporated at Glasgow 1505-6(?)
