Chisholm, William

Biography

Bishop of Dunblane and Vaison. May be one of the William Chisholms graduating M.A. From St Andrews Univ. 1545 and 1552. Coadjutor to his uncle, Bishop William, 1561, and succeeded as bishop in 1564. Outlawed 1567, convicted of barratry 1569 and deprived of the bishopric. Bishop of Vaison in France 1570-84. Restored to his see in Scotland 1587. Died in Rome, 26th Sept., 1593.
