Biography

Baptised at Totteridge, Hertfordshire, 21 April 1636. He resided at Tottenham, Middlesex.Henry Hare was was Member of Parliament for Old Sarum 1679-1681. He married, firstly, in or before 1667, Theodosia, daughter of Sir Richard Lucy, 1st Baronett. She died in 1680, and he married, secondly, Sarah, second and youngest daughter of Sir Edward Alston, and widow of John Seymour, Duke of Somerset, and on her death in 1692, thirdly, 4 August 1696, Elizabeth Potman, widow of Robert Reade of Cheshunt in Hertfordshire and probably daughter of Thomas Werg. An antiquary, he wrote a history of Tottenham in Middlesex.  When he died without legitimate issue in 1749, his possessions were dispersed, the library being sold by the booksellers Thomas Osborne and J. Shipton in Gray's Inn 11 November 1754.
