Biography
Won bursary to King's Coll. 1809, MA 1813, studied medicine at Edin, member of Royal College of Surgeons of London 1815. Returned to Scotland 1819. Acquired library of Dr George Kerr. Published first vol of translation of Paul of Aegina 1834 but project interrupted. Honorary MD Aberdeen 1856. Honorary LLD Glasgow 1846.



From Provenance Catalogue: Born in 1796, Adams gained his M.A. at King's College in 1813. He gained a reputation as a classical scholar. Himself an author, he was also an eminent translator of medical works. In 1856 he obtained his M.D.. He practised at Banchory-Ternan.
