Cargill, James
- Biography
- Son of Thomas Cargill of Aberdeen. Graduated from King's College, Aberdeen around 1592. Studied botany and anatomy and medicine at Basel. Student, colleague and correspondent with Caspar Bauhin and of his brother, John Bauhin. Graduated in medicine at Basel, 1598. On leaving Basel, he visited London and met Matthias L'Obel. Practised as a physician in Aberdeen and continued to correspond with Bauhin. Died c.1616. Left bequest to Marischal College. Brother of Thomas Cargill, Master of the Grammar School. Books found in both King's College and Marischal College Libraries.
