Biography
From Provenance Catalogue: Born in 1570 and educated at King's College, Johnestone was one of the earliest goo Latin poets in Scotland. He worked with Andrew Melville. After holding the chair of divinity at St Andrews, he became bishop there in 1593. He died in 1611. See Rait, Robert Sangster: The universities of Aberdeen.
