Biography
Church of Scotland minister. Admitted Marischal Coll., 1612. Taught alongside his brother David in the grammar school at Aberdeen, 1616/17, before being appointed regent at Marischal College (signs as regent 1623). Burgess status conferred 1623. Minister of Bethlenie (Old Meldrum) 1633. Deposed 1642 but fully restored by Aug 1643. Censured and suspended again, restored 1648. Called to the charge of Strathdon 1651. Died Strathdon, somewhere between April 1649 and April 1650.



From Provenance Catalogue: A younger brother of David, William became a professor of Greek at Marischal College and gained a reputation as a writer of Greek and Latin verse in the 1620s. See Fasti M.C.
