Biography

Family from Claypotts, near Broughty Ferry. Incorporated St Salvator's College, St Andrews, 1536. Rector of St Andrews 1536-7. Went to Rome 1538 for bulls for Ja. Stewart as commendator of St Andrews, and of Patrick Hepburn as bishop of Moray. Rector King's Coll., 1542. Canon of Aberdeen, 1553. Provost of Guthrie and rector of Fettercairn, also had the prebend of Belhelvie. Keen reformer. Died 1576.
