Biography

Physician. Born Scotland. Educated Montpellier, grad. 1607. Published thesis 1617. Chair of medicine 1619. Vice-chancellor 1632. Padua, Venice and Bologna competing for him 1634, moved to Bologna 1634. Dispute over whether Scharpe was to return to his post at Montpellier. Died Bologna 1638. Lectures published posthumously by his son.
