Biography

Provost of Aberdeen.



From Provenance Catalogue: Rutherford was a baillie of New Aberdeen in the 1580s, in 1592, 1595, 1602 and from 1615-20. He was Aberdeen's Commissioner to Parliament in 1605, chosen perhaps because of his fluency in Latin, French and Scots. See the Spalding Club: Extracts from the register of Burgh of Aberdeen.
