Aberdeen 2040 shared during global discussion on cultural diversity

The University's strategy on social inclusion and cultural diversity was shared with a global audience during a three-day event exploring cultural policy and democracy.

Professor Eleonora Belfiore, Director of the Interdisciplinary Centre for Social Inclusion and Cultural Diversity, drew on the University’s Aberdeen 2040 strategy when delivering the keynote address at the International Conference Cultural Policy and Cultural Democracy: A Global Dialogue which took place in Santiago de Chile at the end of last year.

The event, organised by the Ministry of Cultures, Arts & Heritage and the University of Chile, with the collaboration of the Gabriela Mistral Cultural Center, sought to establish Chile as a global discussion platform on cultural policy research based on a North-South dialogue.

Professor Belfiore said: "It has been an immense privilege and joy to collaborate with colleagues at the University of Chile in Santiago on developing a new and more inclusive model for ideas and exchange in the field of cultural policy studies between researcher in the global South and North.

“As co-editor of the journal Cultural Trends, which co-organised the event, I am proud to have been able to feed the ethos of the Aberdeen 2040 Interdisciplinary Challenge of Social Inclusion and Cultural Diversity into a truly global conversation.”
