University of Aberdeen 11th in the UK for student satisfaction

The University of Aberdeen has risen four places to be ranked 11th in the UK for overall student satisfaction in this year's National Student Survey (NSS).

The NSS is carried out by the Office for Students (OfS) on behalf of the UK funding bodies and is the largest student feedback survey in the world. As well as capturing student views on the overall quality of their undergraduate degree, the survey gathers students’ responses to a series of questions relating to academic support, learning resources, teaching, organisation and management, and assessment.

Survey results show that University of Aberdeen students have ranked the University in the top 10 across a number of aspects of the NSS:

• 11^th in the UK for overall satisfaction, a rise of four places
• 9^th in the UK, a rise of 10 places, for ‘staff are good at explaining things’
• 4^th in the UK for ‘I have been able to access course-specific resources – e.g. equipment, facilities, software, collections - when I needed to’
• 6^th in the UK for ‘I have had the right opportunities to work with other students as part of my course.’

Ruth Taylor, Vice-Principal for Education at the University, said: “I am delighted and proud that for overall satisfaction we have moved up four places to 11^th out of 124 higher education institutions across the UK.

“These results demonstrate the value that our students place on their experiences at the University of Aberdeen. Our staff have done an excellent job in ensuring that our students are among the most highly satisfied in the UK despite the challenges brought by Covid-19.”
