Partners by Subject Discipline

Partners by Subject Discipline

Departmental Partners

Most of our European partner links are set up on a departmental basis. Exchange hosts available to you will vary depending on what you are studying. You can view subject-specific hosts by using the degree subject drop down list below. Only students from those disciplines can apply. Joint honours students may be able to apply if one of their subjects is in the relevant field.

University-wide Partners

Outside of Europe most of our links are not subject-specific. This means these are open to students on any degree with an eligible period abroad. If you can find sufficient credits in your field of study, you may apply for that host.

Please note, a few European links are not subject-specific and open to students on any eligible degree. These can be found in the ‘University-wide’ drop down at the top.

If you are unsure where to start, you may find our Destinations by Degree CRIB Sheet helpful. This shows where students on different programmes have gone in recent years. Please note, this list should only be used as a guide, and it is not exhaustive. If you are interested in a partner university which does not appear against your subject, this does not mean you cannot apply for that host. It simply means we have not sent anyone there in recent years. The list also does not guaranteed that the partner is still suitable for your degree. Changes can occur from time to time, but it can be a helpful place to start.

University-wide

Most of these destinations are open to students from all subject disciplines (with the exception of Medicine and Dentistry), on the provision that you can find suitable courses taught in English that meet the requirements of your degree programme.

Where these are restricted to one or two subjects, or we know these destinations to be unsuitable for certain degree programmes, we have noted this, though this list is not exhaustive.

The History Department is very keen to encourage and support students thinking about going abroad either for a year or a semester. Normally, students go abroad the whole of Year 2 or one semester in Year 3.

History does not require any specific course matching. So, you are free to take any history courses you wish. On the Exchange Study Plan, you are asked to give an idea of what courses you might take. That will give the Go Abroad Tutor in History an idea of what you're thinking to take. But, the key thing is you're not trying to match any courses you might have taken here at your university abroad.

The History Department want you to take advantage of all the unique offerings abroad not replicate something here, and they will do their best to help you if you want to go abroad.
