Christian Albrecht University of Kiel (also referred to as Kiel University or the CAU) was founded back in 1665. Kiel University is the largest university in Schleswig Holstein with more than 26 000 students and 185 degree programmes. Kiel University is dedicated to research-based teaching and learning. Students from all over the world benefit from this: research results are quickly integrated into programme curricula and our academic staff is trained in-state-of-the-art teaching methods.

The Baltic Sea is the heart of Kiel and beaches go right into the city. Kiel is a beautiful and relaxing city. Since Kiel is not a big city, everything is close and can be reached easily by bike or foot.
