With a student population of over 50,000, Aberdeen has plenty to offer in the way of entertainment. From art galleries and theatres to museums and libraries, Aberdeen is a hidden gem of culture and entertainment, right in the heart of North East Scotland.

If you’re interested in performing arts, the city hosts a wide array of productions throughout the year. His Majesty’s Theatre and the Music Hall stage over 300 performances every year, from ballet, opera and contemporary dance to comedy and musicals.

For film fanatics, there are a number of cinema multiplexes to choose from, showing latest releases as well as contemporary cult classics.

The Aberdeen Music Hall has been at the heart of entertainment in the city since 1822 and the three major Scottish orchestras - The Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Scottish Chamber Orchestra and BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra all have residencies there. The Music Hall stages more than 200 performances a year and acts as a community facility in the city centre for a series of exhibitions and fairs.

Aberdeen Arts Centre also has a varied programme of amateur and smaller scale professional shows.
