Aberdeenshire

Aberdeenshire

Aberdeenshire is a beautiful part of the world. There are castles, rivers, mountains and stunning countryside.

The area has over 260 castles and these include the ruins of Slains Castle, thought to be the inspiration for Bram Stoker’s Count Dracula, and Dunnottar Castle, the former home to one of the most powerful families in Scotland and inspiration for Disney’s Brave. University of Aberdeen graduate Gordon Cameron is a technical advisor at Disney Pixar, the animated studio who created the film.

Royal Deeside is where Aberdeenshire meets the Cairngorms National Park and where the River Dee starts its journey to the North Sea. Take a trip on the Royal Deeside Railway or a go on a highland safari. This really is a royal area.

Take a tour of one of our Whisky distilleries. You will see the brewing process for Aberdeenshire’s “water of life” and even have a sample of some of our traditional drink.

Spot some wildlife with seals at Newburgh Beach, puffins at the Bullers of Buchan and dolphins from the coastline.

Aberdeenshire really is incredible…be sure to check it out in all of its glory.
