Two scholarships are available. They will be awarded to a student with musical talent (voice or instrumental) entering the University for full-time studies.
The scholarship is open to students commencing a BMus, BMus (Ed) or BMus (Community Music) undergraduate full-time degree at the University of Aberdeen in September 2019. Each scholarship is valued at £1,500 per annum for the four-year duration of the undergraduate degree.
This scholarship is currently closed for applications.
You should note that only applicants domiciled in the UK and classified as paying Home Fees, normally domiciled in the UK but temporarily living outside the UK and classified as paying Home Fees are eligible to apply for the Margaret Carlaw and Derek Ogston Music Scholarships.
To be considered for a scholarship you will need to have applied to the University of Aberdeen for a BMus place starting in September 2019; to be awarded a scholarship you must receive and then firmly accept a BMus offer; either conditional or unconditional, of a place at the University. University of Aberdeen Scholarships can only be held by students of the University - they cannot be transferred to other institutions.
It is anticipated that the students receiving the scholarships will wish to contribute to the musical activities in the University of Aberdeen. At the discretion of the Head of Music, these may include concerts, graduations and special services, but they will not impinge on the students' academic studies.
Please fill in the application form online (link below). The deadline for applications is Monday 01 July 2019. Please see the Guidelines document below for full details.
