Welcome week party on the pitches for students

Students at the University of Aberdeen will get a sample of what life on campus is like at Party on the Pitches this week.

The event, which will take place on Thursday September 6th on King’s Pavilion Playing Fields, is part of the University’s Welcome Week and will give new and returning students the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the range of services the University has to offer.

On hand to provide information will be staff from a range of services across the University, including teams from Student Support, Students’ Association, Student Experience, Campus Services and Aberdeen Sports Village. Students will also be able to sample a range of food that is made fresh in-house and available on campus - important to know for when you are putting in long study shifts in the library!

Party on the Pitches will also see the return of former students Campbell Scot, who owns and runs Scot Surf School, and Sandy McKinnon, founder of local eatery FoodStory - both keen to show their support for the University of Aberdeen student community.

Other organisations attending the event include: Coca-Cola, Irn Bru, Matthew Algie Coffee and Aberdeen Football Club.

Head of student experience at the University, Duncan Stuart commented: “Everyone is looking forward to Party on the Pitches. It’s shaping up to be a brilliant event which students should find fun and informative. There will also be lots of prizes to be won and free samples being handed out on the day, so I’m sure everyone will leave with a haul of goodies!

“It’s also a great opportunity for students to meet staff from a wide range of student support services which are all available to them during their time at university.”

Party on the Pitches will take place from 11am - 2.30pm on King’s Pavilion Playing Fields. For further information on this and all of the events taking place during Welcome week please visit the Aberdeen University Students’ Association website.
