Important Information for all Students
All applications for clinical elective attachments are processed through the MBChB office. Students should not therefore apply directly to any departments, but should correspond directly with the Clinical Elective Secretaries in Aberdeen or Inverness.

- Attachments for both Aberdeen and Inverness can be arranged for a minimum of 4 weeks and a maximum of 8 weeks only. Please note that requests for longer or shorter attachments will not be considered. Dates are fixed and non-negotiable.
- There is no formal teaching programme. Students will join in all clinical activities and participate in teaching rounds, case conferences, etc., that are held regularly in the various units/specialties.
- Places are limited and are offered on a first-come-first-served basis.
- Students from outside the European Union will be required by UK Visas and Immigration to obtain a Tier 4 visa as indicated at UKVI Website
Time Period for Electives: Electives are only available during July and August. Electives our with these months will not be considered.
How to Apply: The clinical elective programme for 2019 is now full, applications will no longer be accepted. Applications for July/August 2020 will open in October 2019. Please refer to this guidance document for further details.
Cost: An administration fee of £250 will be payable on acceptance of an elective placement.
Time Period for Electives: Applications can be made anytime.
