The Law School is delighted to announce that Dr Michiel Poesen has been appointed to the European Commission’s Working Group on Brussels Ia, a specialist expert group advising on the revision of the Brussels Ia Regulation, a key instrument in the area of cross-border civil and commercial justice across the European Union.
The Working Group brings together leading experts from academia and legal practice to support the European Commission’s work on issues relating to jurisdiction and the recognition and enforcement of judgments between countries. Its work is central to ensuring that cross-border legal disputes can continue to be resolved effectively and that court decisions are recognised across different jurisdictions in the EU.
As a member of the Working Group, Dr Poesen will contribute expert advice and help shape future legal and policy developments in an area of law that is increasingly important in an interconnected world.
Commenting on the appointment, Dr Poesen said: “I am honoured to have been selected for this Working Group and to contribute to discussions on the future development of private international law in the European Union.”
Dr Poesen’s appointment is a recognition of his expertise in European private international law, and consolidates the international reputation of the Law School as a centre of excellence in private international law.
