Dr Couzigou presents paper at workshop 'Exploring Organized Crime-Terror Nexus' in Shanghai

Earlier this month Dr Couzigou presented as an international cyber security expert at a workshop hosted by the East China University of Political Science and Law
University of Massachusetts Lowell.

Dr Couzigou presented her paper 'A New Category of Cybercrime: the Use of the Internet for Terrorist Purposes' and argued that States should counter the use of the Internet by terrorists. In doing so, they should recognise the resort to the Internet for terrorist purposes as a new and specific category of cybercrime.

Her paper was one of a number delivered by international experts and researchers on organised crime, terrorism and cyber crime.  The workshop's key aim was  to explore the links between organised crime and terrorism that threaten national security in various parts of the world.  The event was a forum for both Chinese academics and government representatives together with experts from around the globe to  share and discuss the latest ideas, innovative strategies and research findings about countering organised crime and terrorism.
