Working

The University's Lighthouse Field Station is based in the old lighthouse keeper's cottage and the Old Buoy Store on Cromarty's harbour front at the tip of the Black Isle. Cromarty is over 700 years old and was built on fishing and trading links with Europe.

The University's Lightouse Field Station was established in 1990 with the dual aim of supporting research within the School of Biological Sciences and integrating this work into the School’s teaching and outreach activities. Based in the centre of the Moray Firth, it is ideally situated for studies of marine mammal populations and other aspects of the Moray Firth's marine environment.
